Piano Network of IL connects you with great tuning partners.

  • Acoustic pianos, whether upright or grand, are great musical instruments and also beautiful pieces of furniture.
  • They are also big investments. But if cared for properly, they become “family heirlooms”.
  • You can help keep your piano in the best condition possible by:
    • Maintaining the room where the piano is at a temperature between 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit and a relative humidity between 35-45%.
    • Because it is mostly made of wood and will expand and contract with temperature and humidity changes, consistency of climate is very important to the playability and longevity of the piano.
    • Having your piano tuned and checked by a competent technician a minimum of 1-2 times per year for normal usage…more frequently if the usage is higher.
    • Not having this normal maintenance done for an extended period of time can cause irreparable damage to the piano.
